an Jose,Nike Air Max 2013 Mens, California against Facebook for using his image in ads on the social network that suggest he has "liked" USA Today's Facebook page.In response Facebook said: "The complaint is without merit and we will defend ourselves vigorously."Tony DiTirro is suing Facebook for claiming he "Liked" USA Today's Facebook Page in an ad.Pocket-LintAnthony "Tony" DiTirro is seeking at least $750 (£456) for himself and any other user featured in ads for products and pages that they haven't "Liked". A law in California allows individuals to seek this amount in damages when their images have been used without direct permission."Although [DiTirro] has nothing negative to say about USA Today newspapers, [DiTorro] is not an avid reader of USA Today, nor does [DiTorro] endorse the newspaper,Nike Air Max 90 White Purple Red Black," reads the complaint."[Facebook] knowingly used [DiTorro]'s likeness and Facebook profile to advertise to the general public that [DiTorro] endorsed USA Today without [DiTorro's] permission."NewsfeedDiTirro claims that he was only made aware of the fact that his image was being used to endorse the USA Today Facebook Page by a friend who saw the ad on his newsfeed. The latest lawsuit is just the latest of the social media giant's legal problems. Facebook agreed to pay a $20 million (£12.6 million) settlement in August 2013 following a class action over "Sponsored Stories", which is similar to the advertisements DiTirro has complained about.Facebook was also sued two weeks ago for allegedly intercepting information mined from private messages and selling the data to advertisers without users' content. Facebook has also denied these allegations. The social network site says that "Sponsored Stories" will cease to be a standalone product, but instead be included in new "Social Context" ads that show users having liked a page or checking in to a restaurant – basically exactly the same concept as before,Nike Air Max 2015 Black Red Blue UK, only expanded to include "Check In" updates as well.  <div
Instant Messaging to Outstrip SMS Texting by 2:1 in 2014By Alistair CharltonJanuary 13, 2014 12:06 GMTSmartphone IM apps to double SMS text messages in the UK this year.ReutersTwice as many messages will be sent through smartphone chatting applications like WhatsApp than through traditional SMS text messaging this year.It is predicted that instant message (IM) applications will be used to send 300 billion messages in the UK in 2014, compared to 140 billion texts.Text messages sent in the UK in 2012 outnumbered instant messages by almost three-to-one (152 billion and 57 billion respectively), but for 2013 the tables have turned and figures published by Deloitte reveal IM overtook text messaging (SMS) for the first time.Instant messaging overtook SMS in the UK for the first time in 2013.DeloitteThe decline in SMS use is expected to continue through 2014,Nike Air Max 2013 Womens Pink Silver Black, while IM soars, up to 300 billion messages for the year, more than double the 140 billion texts expected to be sent.Reaching a tipping pointPaul Lee,Air Max 2014 Womens Blue Green Orange UK, head of telecoms research at Deloitte, told the Guardian: "This is the first decline in texting in the UK since texting was invented. We have reached a tipping point. But the usage of mobile phones to send messages is stronger than ever. This year, trillions of instant messages will be sent in place of a text message."However, this claim is at odds to figures released by Ofcom in late 2012 to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first SMS being sent.At its peak in the fourth quarter of 2011, the UK saw 39.7 billion text messages sent, the telecom regulator stated. This fell to 39.1 billion in the first quarter of 2012 and fell again to 38.5 billion in Q2.James Thickett, Ofcom's Director of Research, said in December, 2012: "For the first time in the history of mobile phones, SMS volumes are showing signs of decline. However the availability of a wider range of communications tools like instant messaging and social networking sites, mean that people might be sending fewer SMS messages, but they are 'texting' more than ever before."SMS to generate 'significantly greater revenues' than IMBut even as
